How do I book an AlbertaMD appointment?

Choose a day in the website calendar, then open that day's appointment times in Ava. Select an offered 15-minute phone appointment, enter your registration details in Ava, and follow its confirmation and appointment-status instructions. The direct Book your visit now button is also available.

Can I book a few days ahead?

Yes. Booking is no longer restricted to the same day. Ava displays the clinic's published appointment slots for today or upcoming days. Only offered slots can be booked; website operating hours do not mean every hour is bookable.

Where do I enter my Alberta health-card number?

Enter your required health-card number, date of birth and contact details inside Ava's registration flow—not on this website. There is no clinic-request form on this website.

Does booking automatically create an Ava Connect account?

No. Appointment registration is separate from an Ava Connect portal account. Ava Connect accounts require the clinic's invitation process.

Who is eligible, and what is covered?

A valid Alberta Health Care card and active AHCIP coverage are required. You must be physically in Alberta. Eligible medically necessary doctor visits are covered by AHCIP for patients with a valid Alberta Health Care card and active coverage. This refers to the doctor consultation. Medication costs and uninsured services are separate.

Are prescriptions or sick notes guaranteed?

No. Clinical suitability and prescriptions depend on physician assessment. A sick note is issued only when clinically appropriate; its approved $40 no-tax documentation fee is collected after assessment through the approved process. Documentation and insured consultation coverage are separate.

What if I need urgent help?

For a medical emergency, call 911 or go to an emergency department. Do not wait for a booked appointment when symptoms are severe or rapidly worsening.
